The ethical, sustainable and minimalist choice – Organic Basics

When we were searching for sustainable fashion brands from Europe, Organic Basics was one of the first ones that we came across. Sustainability has lots of aspects, it includes what we do, what we buy and what we wear as well. The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world. Fast fashion focuses on quantity: producing cheap clothes with low-quality, and most of the time the workers get low salaries and they work in bad conditions.

However, there are some brands that work with a more sustainable concept, like Organic Basics©.

“The fashion industry is dirty - but it can be better. We constantly search for better innovation, we have a visionary use of sustainable materials - and a continued focus on ethical production” - says the statement of the brand on their website.

Organic Basics© cares about its impact on the environment and uses sustainable materials that can be also recycled. The people who work for the company do in a fully legal and friendly working environment. They receive a fair salary for their work in the country where they live (mainly Portugal and Turkey).

The web page has an amazing A-Z guide on their website, where they expose all the problems that they fight, and all the solutions that they implement. You can give it a look, click here!

Production and materials

The clothes are designed in Denmark and the factories are in Europe, mainly in Portugal and Turkey. The factories pay living wages and offer perks to employees, which means these basics are ethically made. Most of the time they use GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) organic cotton, meaning that it’s grown without harmful insecticides and pesticides.  Some of the clothes are made with TENCEL™ lyocell, which is made from eco-friendly wood pulp that’s been refined into a sustainable thread that feels softer than silk and cotton. Other shirts are made of recycled nylon.

Organic Basics makes literally the softest basics on earth! The materials they use are light and soft, you actually don’t feel that you’re wearing something.

Packaging

One of our favorite things about Organic Basics is that they send the items in reusable packaging. It’s actually just paper, absolutely no plastic, it’s made of recycled materials! So we got the packages in recycled materials, and I actually already reused some of the packagings. Win-win, right?

The basic t-shirts are made of GOTS certified organic cotton, and they are the softest shirts ever! It has a clean cut and it fits jeans, skirts or any kind of pants as well. I will live in these tees in the summer months!

Available colors: black and white

Organic Basics - Men's t-shirt, green, sustainable fashion

Dante wears Men’s Lite T-shirt, Dark Green

This shirt is one of the softest that I ever tried! I am a simple man when we talk about clothing, I just like to wear things that are comfortable for me, and this has been one of the best decisions!

It is good to have a shirt that fits with everything, the variety of colors ( Navy blue, black, dark green and white) makes them easy to combine and they are good for every situation. The material of the men’s t-shirt is 95% lyocell TENCEL™, 5% elastane. This material is made from wood pulp refined into a soft sustainable thread and is the reason why the shirt is very soft.

The triangle bra is made with GOTS certified organic cotton and it’s so comfortable! It has no annoying and uncomfortable underwire, but it’s a traditional cut. The softest sustainable and ethical bra choice! 🙂

Bikini Brief - Rose Nude

The underwear is made of eco-certified long fiber organic cotton. These classic bikini cut panties are actually invisible and super comfy! You can get them in black and rose nude color as well.

They are both ethically made in Turkey and you can find the factories on the webpage of Organic Basics. You can get them together in the Starter Pack Bikini as well, so you can spare some money! 🙂

Soft Touch Lite Bralette - Cloudy Blue

This bralette is actually my favorite, it’s made of TENCEL™ lyocell, which makes it super soft! You actually can’t really feel that you’re feeling a bra, so it feels light, but it’s still very supportive.

The Lite Bralette and Briefs are ethically made in Portugal.

You can also get the Lite Bralettes in rose nude, blue and black colors. You can order the bralette with the Lite bikini briefs as well, the pack is called Starter Pack Lite Bralette.

Invisible Tank Top, Women, rose nude color, sustainable fashion

Invisible Tank Top - Rose Nude

The Tank Tops are made of 82% recycled nylon and 18% elastane. The tank top is really “invisible”, you can wear it under a dress or a warm shirt, but it’s totally fine on its own as well.

The production of this tank top has a minimal environmental impact because it’s made of recycled materials, which saves lots of water and CO2 as well!  The Tank Top is ethically made in Turkey.

You can get the Tank Tops in black and rose nude colors as well.
