The story behind DeerTraveler
We are Deertraveler: Dante and Zsuzsi, an international travel couple.
We met and fell in love in the lovely city of Riga, in Latvia. We spent our exchange semesters there. Dante came from Mexico-City and Zsuzsi from Vienna, and we both ended up studying for 1 semester in that magical Baltic city. This happened in February 2017, and since then we are together.

Riga city marked us in many beautiful and unique ways, we learnt how to be more open and we got to know ourselves in a deeper level. We made amazing friends and we also managed to do a lot of amazing trips where we got funny, remarkable, strange and unique experiences. These adventures inspired us to create a diary where we would be able to share our amazement by the world, to inspire others to feel free, to fall in love with life and with the world. We try to inspire our community and our audience to be brave and follow their dreams.
DeerTraveler is a sustainable and eco travel blog with travel guides, written by an international travel couple. After our long trip to Mexico we realised how important it is to have a positive impact on our environment while we travel. That’s why we educate our community about eco travel and eco living as well. Sustainable travel is the core value of our blog: DeerTraveler is aiming to inspire people to explore the world responsibly. Our Instagram is a travel couple channel, where we share eco tips, zero waste tips with our community as well.
Our audience can read travel guides to European cities and Mexican regions, but articles about relationships, photography as well.
We started our Instagram after our trip to Rome, where we took a bunch of photos and we got inspired. Why deer? We always think about this animal as our spirit animal: brave explorer, but also humble.
Now that you know about DeerTraveler, let us introduce ourselves to you!
My name is Zsuzsanna Paluska…
…Zsuzsi in Hungarian or just Susi, if you can’t pronounce it…
When I was 15 years old, I bought my Nikon D3100 and since then I love to take a bunch of photos while travelling around. I am the one, who is taking the most of our photos for our blog and our Instagram, however, I collaborate with Dante a lot to choose the perfect perspective, view, pose or whatever, and we also edit the photos together.
I was born in a small European country, in Slovakia, in a small town called Komárom (in Hungarian and Komárno in Slovak). I belong to the Hungarian minority in Slovakia, so my mother tongue is Hungarian. I’m vegetarian since 6 years and beginner in veganism. I play guitar and piano, and I also love to sing for special occasions: my own songs, Hungarian songs or Mexican and English songs. I love arts, museums, reading books and learning languages. I can speak Hungarian, Slovak, English, German, French and I am learning Spanish and Russian.
I’m studying pedagogy and social and cultural anthropology at the University of Vienna, but I have never felt that studying can make me happy or that it can satisfy my desire for adventures, so I was participating in different projects, I was working and volunteering for different organizations.
Fun fact: I write poems in Hungarians, some of them were published in literature magazines.

Hola! My name is Dante Pigeon…
…I am a mechanical engineer and I was born in one of the most colorful countries of the world, Mexico! I grew up in Mexico City, a very crowded and chaotic, but also beautiful and special city.
I was always a dreamer kid, my evenings were full of dinosaur playtime, a lot of reading, and imagining about how to explore all the countries.
I have been interested in art, science and music since I remember, I learnt how to play some instruments during the secondary school like the bass guitar and the sweet flute, and since baby I have been drawing, specially dragons, dinosaurs, monsters and little landscapes. I dedicated my life to study applied science, because I love to understand how the world works, how the forces of nature forge the behavior of the place where we live, but also how to control these forces to improve our live and understand better the universe. I can speak Spanish, English and German but I also studied a bit of French, Latvian and now I also study Hungarian.
I need to say that I had been dreaming with travelling around the world, until I went to Riga and I was able to start with it. It was ten times better than I imagined, I was never surrounded by so much amazing and lovely people in my life, everyone was happy, everyone was feeling in connection with each other and that was the definition of heaven for me.
I also met Zsuzsi during that amazing experience, I didn`t know in that moment that she would become my partner in love and adventure, but I am very happy for that!
Fun fact: I really like science fiction! I am a huge fan of a lot of movies, series and videogames (that usually Zsuzsi doesn`t like)
